Catechetical committee

With the new year, all the committees of the Vicariate started meeting to make their year-plan. Jozini has become "the place" for any Vicariate meeting as it is pretty central. A week ago the Finance Committee gathered there and last Saturday it was the turn of the Vicariate Catechetical Committee.

After the opening prayer and reflection, the Bishop thanked God for the work done in 2011: the planning in January, a retreat in February, trainings in March (Hlabisa) and June (KwaNgwanase), teaching plan and material in August, Bible training in October... a very intense year.

At the beginning of 2012 another group of eight catechists attended the "training of trainers" being done at the Pastoral Centre of the Diocese of Dundee (Newcastle) for one week.

We felt it was important for the committee to have a chairperson who will, from now on, coordinate the activities and make sure there is good communication between the different Missions.

While the chairperson (Mrs Mlambo) was appointed by the Bishop, the rest of the responsabilities were decided together: Mrs Gumede was asked to be the vice chairperson, Mrs Mhlongo the secretary and Mrs Mkhwanazi the vice secretary. Each one of them comes from a different Mission.

Trainings were planned again for March and June and they supported the idea of another Bible session in October.
