Last Sunday, the new Vicariate Youth Committee gathered at Malusi Omuhle, our Cathedral to be prayed and blessed as they start their service for the next three years.
This new committee was elected last December at the annual gathering of the youth at "Star of the Sea" (KwaNgwanase) and represents every Mission of the Vicariate.
During the homily the Bishop, guided by the Gospel of that Sunday, reminded them they have been chosen to "follow Jesus" and become "fishers of young men and women".
This means keeping in their hearts, every young person in the Vicariate and not just those who are in already taking an active part in the life of the Church and the community.
Many of our young people feel they are walking in darkness like the prophet Isaiah indicated in the first reading and they need to see "a great light", one that can give them new hope in the present and help them build a bright future.
After the homily each member promised to serve like Jesus did and received a candle symbolizing their commitment to be light to others.
