Magdalena Mdletshe, originally from Mozambique, for many years was a domestic worker at St. Lucia Mission. She retired under Fr. Robert Kucera and built homes in various areas and had to abandon them due to family problems. She finally settled in the government sub-economic housing project at Ndlovu Village.
There she was an active member of the St. Joseph's prayer group. When the prayer group asked to become a Mass centre, we began Mass in her home with about 12-15 people (c. 2005).
Soon the small house could not cope with the numbers and we moved to the neighbouring primary school. Again the numbers grew: lots of youth and children. We moved again to the new St. Gabriel's Healing Centre.
The congregation has now grown to between 70-100. In view of future growth we have acquired a site nearby on which we hope a proper church. We are in the process of acquiring the PTO. We will then fence the site and start making blocks.
