Last Saturday 10 April 2010 the community of Ingwavuma celebrated the ordination to the diaconate of Vukani Phoseka. All the outstations were present. They had been preparing that day for the last two months. There was also a good number of representatives from Mtubatuba Mission where Vukani has been serving since June last year, after finishing his studies at St John Vianney.

During the homily, Bp José Luis told Vukani that the Biblical texts read were the same ones used when he was ordained Bishop nearly a year ago on Easter Saturday and that was why he likes them in a particular way.

He asked Vukani to make sure he preaches Jesus Christ and not himself, he preaches what he "has seen and heard" like the apostles and helps the people to see the presence of the Risen Christ in their daily lives. He reminded him that the courage of the apostles is a gift of the Spirit and only by asking for the same gifts of the Spirit will be able to follow their example. Finally he insisted on the words he would pronounce when given him the book of the Gospels: "believe what you read, teach what you believe, live what you teach".

The first Mission of the Vicariate is the one especially blessed with vocations. Deacon Vukani joins now Frs Vusi and Raphael Mthembu, Thulani Ntsele and Sibusiso Ndlazi, all born in the different outstations of the Mission.
