On January 22, 2010 Fr Wilbert Mkhwanazi left South Africa for Rome. He is the first diocesan priest to be sent by the Vicariate of Ingwavuma for further studies. He will be doing Dogmatics at Urbaniana University.
Fr Mkwanazi is also the first diocesan priest. He was ordained by Bishop Michael O'Shea OSM in 1998. He had completed his studies in Rome. For the last 10 years he had been the priest-in-charge of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd (Hlabisa).
