The Catholic Bishops of Southern Africa began their August Plenary meeting at Mariannhill with an hour of prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament for the Priests of the Territory. Each Bishop had a list of the priests working in their Diocese. After lighting a candle, each bishop placed the names of the Priests before the Blessed Sacrament. The Bishops then spent time reflecting on the year of the Priest letters.
